Hello dear readers:
As I write to you, the leaves are starting to change color and I'm shifting my focus towards
It's a season of change for me. I mentioned a while ago that I'm pivoting into fiction writing, and then I took some time to think about how I wanted to shift my newsletter/Patreon work to make more sense with that.
Some of you may have also felt a different kind of shift coming. You may have noticed that the Lore Books Instagram account isn't terribly active at the moment, or that there have been fewer market announcements.
Lore Books is Shuttering its Doors
Some of you may have noticed that the economy is not doing very well right now. I know I'm feeling the squeeze. Now is simply not the time to be opening a new bookstore - and it's time that I announced that.
I'm feeling quite bashful because this is actually the second store closing that I have ever announced. But with the rise of fascism in the United States, the tariffs making wholesaling very difficult, and my own financial needs changing, I cannot keep doing this. Lore was always envisioned as the first step towards a physical space, and I can't really see myself feeling comfortable signing a business lease any time soon.
Lore's last day in business will be October 31st, 2025.
So here's how it will work:
Everything is 15% off from now until we close. The discount will automatically be applied at checkout. There may be some surprise sales, so watch this space.
Once I've sold out of something on the Lore site, it's gone.
If you run your own occult shop and would like to take some of my stock, I am very open to that. (The collections I'm most interested in finding a new home for are the Maria Kvilhaug books as well as the Open Seas Design Co notebooks.)
The site will no longer be available on November 1st.
You will still be able to buy my books directly from me through SiriVincentPlouff.com.
Where do we go from here?
My focus is shifting, but that doesn't mean I'm going away! I will continue to run the Queering the Runes course, this newsletter/Patreon, and the Discord server.
Chances are, you are reading this newsletter because you have loved my writing or courses. My public facing writing career has, until this moment, been almost entirely focused on occult nonfiction and teaching. But I am a generalist creative person, and have been steadily working on fiction and other formats behind the scenes all of these years.
If you're in the Discord server, you'll have noticed that I have a new Creative Coven section of the server where we can talk about our creative goals, there are different sections for different forms of creativity. I want to hopefully use the server to host more of those conversations. But I also want to provide some special events for paid patrons and special content about the process of creating.
To ease into this transition into writing more about my fiction here, I'm going to return to the heart of my offerings blending creativity and the occult: Lessons from the Empress: A tarot workbook for self-care and creative growth.
I'm celebrating the 3-year book birthday of "Lessons from the Empress" with a series of newsletters digging in to some of the tarot spreads throughout the book. This series will chart my own creative growth. I'll be sharing these as well as continuing the series on social media, folk magic, and strategic technomancy that I introduced in last week's letter.
Ok, wow, I think that's it. I'm feeling a bit tender about this one, so please be kind to me and patient as I navigate these changes.
See you next week!
This Week's Top Three:
+ It's simple, but I really love how dark my garden level apartment is. I'm very light sensitive, and so having a cave to come home to is very important.
+ Two Girls, One Ghost podcast! The latest episode on the Black Monk of Pontefract is really good.
+ Now that it's properly autumn I'm revisiting some of my fave scary movies.
