Some Resources I Want You To Have

Troll Brev.

Just a few resources on heathenry + the Far Right

Hello everyone -

I'm writing today because now that I'm back from Mystic South I'm preparing my talk on white supremacy in heathenry for the Salem Witch Festival. Which also means that I'm looking at a bunch of different resources that I want to pass along to you in case you are also doing some research in this area.

Some of these will be links directly to the resource, others will be more like a bibliography note.

(And before we get into it I have to remind y'all that registration for the Summer session of Queering the Runes closes on Tuesday, July 22! So register ASAP!)

I don't know how long this resource will be free, but I've been making my way through "Faith, folk and the Far Right: Racist and anti-racist Heathenry and occultism in Britain." This is a more academic text, but it does have a lot of good history - especially if you're in Britain, but if you're not it's still good information and context.

Did you know that you can access 100 articles a month on JSTOR with a free account? It's pretty great! Here are some papers you can find on JSTOR:

"Before Hitler Came": Thule Society and Germanen Orden," Reginald H. Phelps The Journal of Modern History Vol. 35, No. 3 (Sep., 1963), pp. 245-261

"The Nazi Magicians' Controversy: Enlightenment, "Border Science," and Occultism in the Third Reich," Eric Kurlander Central European History, Vol. 48, No. 4 (DECEMBER 2015), pp. 498-522

"CHAPTER 4 Contested Fields I: Race and Ethnicity" in Norse Revival: Transformations of Germanic Neopaganism, 2016, pp. 123-145 (23 pages)

And if all of these resources sound interesting to you, you'll love coming to my talk at the Salem Witchcraft and Folklore Festival in August!

I love this festival, it's one that I look forward to every year, and I'm so glad they're back to being in person. Last year was my first year attending in person and I'm very excited to do so again. Everything is also available online. You can register for my talk here, or click the button below to learn more about the festival in general.

See you next week!

Troll Brev. once again I have too many thoughts pre-s: I have a really exciting announcement regarding the Chaos and Cunning podcast! Read to the end for more. I originally began writing this newsletter last summer, but put it down for a variety of reasons. It's definitely still relevant, but has taken a turn with the developments in technology. Hello there: I don't know how and why occultists keep doing this, but we keep falling into the pit of believing that the most badass, effective magic...

Troll Brev. Today is the LAST DAY to register for this round of Queering the Runes! Journey to the heart of the Nordic oracle, and journey deep into yourself. Have you ever been curious about Norse runes - but unsure if you would be welcomed by runecasters? Are you interested in tapping into the Web of Wyrd and learning more about fate and seership from a Norse perspective? Are you queer as hell and not interested in learning from someone who won't recognize your identity? This is the rune...

Troll Brev. Hello everyone - Whew, welcome to July! I took most of June off due to traveling for family stuff, and I finally feel like I'm snapping back into it. And so I'm really happy to be coming to you now with a few important updates, as well as an actual-factual newsletter essay about runes. I know that you all aren't only following the newsletter for the launch cycles, and I'm sure that there are a few of you that miss my essay-like content. It's just been hard to balance and I want to...
